Seating plan

A seating plan that does the fiddly part for you

Every guest gets a chair on the actual plan, so you can see who's by the dance floor, who's near the door and who's next to Great-Aunt Jean.

  • Paste any list. “The Smiths: John, Jane, Tim (child)”, “Priya +1”, or columns straight from a spreadsheet.
  • Auto-seat in one click. Households stay together, children sit beside a parent, and the couple takes the middle of the top table.
  • Drag to swap. Move anyone between chairs; you'll be warned about over-full tables or a split household.

Your venue

Your actual venue, to scale

Use a template if your room is a simple shape. If it isn't, draw it: every wall length, door and pillar exactly where it is.

  • Trace their floor plan. Load the photo or PDF your venue sent, set the scale from one wall, draw over it.
  • Exact measurements. Type a wall length and the room updates; L-shapes, bay ends and odd corners are fine.
  • Doors, windows, pillars, stage. And mark the fire exits, so nothing ends up in front of them.

Everyone on the same page, literally

Stop describing the layout over WhatsApp. Send it.

  • A link. Opens in any browser, in 2D and 3D. Guest names are left out unless you choose to include them.
  • A poster. A 3D picture of your room with the plan and your names, ready for the family group chat.
  • A measured plan. Print an A4 plan with wall dimensions and a key, for your venue coordinator and suppliers.

Gentle checks

Planners' rules of thumb, built in

As you lay things out, the planner quietly checks the spacing wedding planners work to, and points at anything that needs another look.

  • 1.5 mbetween tables, so chairs can push back
  • 0.9 mminimum walkway for guests and waiting staff
  • 1.2 mkept clear in front of every door and fire exit
  • 0.3 m²of dance floor per guest (about a third dance at once)
  • 1 barper 100 guests to keep queues short

Questions

Good questions, straight answers

Is it really free?

Yes. Drawing your venue, the 3D view, the seating plan, sharing and printing are all free. There's no trial and no card details.

Do I need an account?

No. Your layouts save automatically in your browser. To carry on on another device, send yourself a share link or export the layout file from the layout menu.

Does it work on an iPad or phone?

Yes. On an iPad it works with touch and Apple Pencil: drag things around, pinch to zoom, long-press for more options. On a phone you can plan one pane at a time, and shared links open straight into the 3D view. A bigger screen makes it easier to see the whole room at once.

Can I use my venue's own floor plan?

Yes. Load the floor plan your venue sent (a photo, screenshot or PDF) as a tracing image, set the scale from one wall you know the length of, and draw over it. You can also type exact wall lengths and add doors, windows, pillars, a stage or a fireplace.

Where are our guests' names kept?

Only on your device, in your browser's own storage. There's no server that receives them. Share links leave the guest list out unless you tick the box to include it.

How accurate is the layout?

Everything is drawn to scale in metres, and tables, dance floors and bars come in standard UK hire sizes. The spacing checks are planners' rules of thumb, not a fire-safety assessment: your venue's own capacity and exit rules always come first.

Can I print a table plan and place cards?

Yes: a table plan board in A3 or A4, fold-over place cards six to a page, escort cards, a printable floor plan with measurements for your venue, and a spreadsheet for your caterer with each guest's table, meal and dietary notes.

Can our venue or planner see it?

Send them a link. They see your layout in 2D and 3D in their browser, with nothing to install, and can save their own copy without changing yours.
